At R+E Cycles, we listen to our customers' needs. Last year at the tandem rally, I had dozens of requests for a tandem design that was easier to get one’s leg over. Then, my own mother told me that she couldn’t ride their tandem anymore because after 4 hip surgeries, she just couldn’t get on it. That brought me back to 2019 (right before the pandemic shut downs), when we designed a tandem for a couple with the same issues. They wanted a high-performance, stable riding (including a stiffener tube), touring tandem, but wanted lower step-over height for both riders.
We're excited to introduce the Rodriguez Two-Step frame design, our latest tandem design option with accessibility and comfort in mind. One of the standout features of the Rodriguez Two-Step is its innovative frame design. We've re-imagined the traditional tandem bike frame to make getting on and off the bike a breeze. The frame is low and easy to step over, eliminating the need to swing your leg over a tall frame, but keeps a stiffener tube for better performance. This 'low step-over' feature is particularly beneficial for riders with hip and knee mobility issues, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the freedom and fun of tandem biking without any barriers.
