How mechanical do I have to be to dis-assemble and re-assemble a Rodriguez Travel Bike?

This is a question asked quite a bit by our customers who purchase the Travel Bikes over the internet. When looking at the bike in the box, it looks pretty intimidating. It's really not. We've gone the extra mile in many ways to make dis-assembly and re-assembly as easy as possible.

Time Frame: I usually tell people that it will take them 1 to 1.5 hours on their first build up or take apart. As they do it a few times, they will reduce that time to about 30 to 45 minutes. Someone who has done them a lot, like me, can put one together or take one apart and pack it in 15-20 minutes.

We give lessons to those who can make it in to the shop, but we also have assembled an instruction sheet that we provide to aid in packing and unpacking for those of you who cannot get here easily. If you'd like to download the one of the .pdf manuals (less than 1 meg. each), you can do that here.

Here's some notes that a tandem customer sent to me

If you don't feel that you have the mechanical knowledge to pack and unpack the bike, realize that you are not alone. Many of our travel bike customers were nervous at first, but you can read some of those very customers letters of satisfaction in our 'online customer scrapbook'. If you're not familiar with the basics, everything that you'll need to know about packing or unpacking your bike can be learned in a basic bicycle tune-up class.
